Yesterday at noon, the 39th edition of the International Contemporary Art Symposium opened, in the presence of artists and the public.
Nearly 200 people visited the artists, whose studios are located in the Jacques St-Gelais Tremblay pavilion, or attended the virtual conference by the honorary president of this 39th edition, artist Raymonde April. During a one-hour presentation, Mrs. April shared with the participants some of the highlights of her career as a photographer and gave them anecdotes and explanations on her practice, on her artistic approach. To close the conference, Sylvie Lacerte, artistic director, asked the audience's questions to Mrs. April, who responded generously.
Mrs. Lacerte is delighted with the reunion between the Symposium team, the artists and the public:
“We were all excited and eager to open the Symposium to the public after two years of absence. The artists were really happy to finally be able to meet and interact with the large audience on this first day of the Symposium. "
Martin Ouellet, Director General of the Musée d'Art Contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul, is also very happy with this first day and it is all smiles that he draws up a positive assessment:
“After this first day, I'm happy to be able to say yes, people love their Symposium, there's no doubt about it! People participated in large numbers. They are all smiles, the artists too, we feel that everyone is happy to be together! It's a wonderful first day that has just ended ... it bodes well for the future!
The Symposium continues today and will be on pause Monday and Tuesday. The artists will be back, ready to welcome visitors Wednesday at noon.
