_Souvenir pioché This workshop by visual artist and author Aurore Juin invites visitors to a sensitive exchange around memory and creation. Each participant begins by writing a personal memory on a sheet of paper, then places it in the center of the table. Next, participants pick a memory that is not their own and illustrate it on a new sheet of paper. This process creates a relationship of care and attention to the other: by interpreting the other's story, we bring to light what seems essential to us, we bring a fresh perspective, sometimes even a touch of lightness in the face of heavier memories.
No drawing skills are required: cut-out pictures are provided to encourage free expression. This activity is not about performance, but about sharing and exploration. At the end, the participants present their illustration and tell us how they perceived the memory they received. It's a moment of exchange, where the image becomes a more universal language, reinterpreting and transmitting emotions.
_Biography Aurore Juin is a visual artist and author based in Montreal. Her work explores the body through a feminist, intimist and humorously charged perspective. She likes to reveal the smaller details of everyday life: forgotten childhood memories, habits that have been ingrained for years and have become invisible. These fragments of life invite reflection, introspection and a better understanding of oneself and others. Eager for autonomy, she has chosen to edit and print her own work, favoring a local, ethical approach to production. Her artistic universe naturally integrates into her daily life, unfolding in a playful, multi-faceted way: comic strips, silkscreening, ceramics or site-specific projects. Her book “Muse de personne” was nominated for the Bédélys prize in the “independent comics” category, in recognition of her commitment to self-published alternative comics. Her first graphic novel, “Mon lit n'est pas ta maison”, will be published in October by L'Œil d'or.
_Approach Aurore Juin is a visual artist and author based in Montreal. Her work documents life experience, capturing traces of everyday life and giving a place to the details that weave our stories. She explores the body and intimacy through a feminist prism, with a playful and sensitive approach. Her practice is rooted in a creative routine, where illustration, comics, printing and everyday objects become means of exploration and transmission. For her, creating is a way to better understand the world, to understand oneself and to open up a space for dialogue with others. Through her workshops, she seeks to foster these encounters, enabling all audiences to experience art as a tool for connection, exchange and reflection.
