_Non-Variable Association Court proposes a space to collectively imagine around basketball culture, for which a community synthesis or abstraction is needed that provides identity, uniqueness, values and representative traits of belonging.
It takes place as an open-air social space marked on the floor by a rectangle of 28x15 meters (size of a basketball court) and a container as a transdisciplinary office. In both places visitors can occupy the space to discuss and design some collective jerseys, we can co-produce community expressions in other formats for the systematic occupation of the space (flags, meetings, DJ presentations, trainings, etc.)
Through participation, desires and opinions will be made manifest in relation to the traits of identity, uniqueness, belonging and community competence as a trans communal archive between the visions of inhabitants and visitors. The speculative pretext is based on the origin of basketball, and on the rhizomatic occupation of public space in the manner of Cirque du Soleil, which also originated in Baie-Saint-Paul.
_Biography Visual artist from Oaxaca in southern Mexico, he studied visual arts, expanded graphic arts, and contemporary art. He graduated from the first generation of the Clínicas de Especialización en Arte Contemporáneo (CEACO) a hybrid program between La Curtiduría Cultural Center and the Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO). He is co-founder of Lugar Común, a social laboratory to encourage participation in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood of Oaxaca. Lugar Común was part of the Arts Collaboratory network from 2016 to 2019.
He participated in the Learning Contexts program at the Asia Art Archive (AAA) in Hong Kong (2023) and in the Notes on Education residency at Documenta 15 (Kassel, 2022). He has been awarded the Young Creators scholarship from the National Fund for Culture and the Arts (FONCA) (2014 and 2018). He also directed the Education Department at the Museo Tamayo Arte Contemporáneo, Mexico, from 2019 to 2023.
_Approach Jaime Ruiz Martinez is interested in the production of objects and situations to reflect on the politics of the collective. He draws on conceptual and social tensions to explore mechanisms of competition and collaborative management. In 2024, he completed the project Tiempo de Ganar (Winning Time) for the 15th Femsa Biennial, a training program for artists that questions the forms of competition, considering art as a high-performance sports system. His practice is linked to the forms of self-organization of his place of origin and the design of adaptive social models that allude to principles such as play, contingency, dispersion, celebration, and collapse. In 2022, he completed the project La Maquiladora TV, a commission for the Hacer Noche Festival. La Maquiladora is an eight-episode television program inspired by the book Atardecer en la Maquiladora de Utopias by writer Robert Valerio.
