Linda Covit, honorary president of the Symposium, will discuss her public art projects with the artistic director. The dialogue will be accompanied by a visual presentation with commentary by the artist, followed by a discussion with the audience.

Music, dance, literature, cinema, painting, sculpture and visual arts are often sources of inspiration, emulation and sometimes imitation when creating architecture. Georges Adamczyk is a professor in the École d’architecture at the Université de Montréal, which he headed from 1999 to 2007. He is a member of the Laboratoire d’étude de l’architecture potentielle (LEAP).

Catherine Bolduc explores the way the psyche perceives and constructs reality by projecting onto it its own desires and transgressing it through the fabrication of fiction. Several exhibitions of her work have been held in Canada and abroad, and she has created several public artworks, including Les Généreuses, which was inaugurated in 2019 at the Nouvel Institut d’Hôtellerie in Longueuil.
A professor in the École d’architecture at Université Laval and a well-known architect, Pierre Thibault believes in a conceptual process which places human beings and the inhabited territory, both natural and urban, in constant interaction. Pierre Thibault is the spokesperson for this 37th edition of the Symposium.

Jean-Pierre Chupin, Ph.D., is a full professor at the École d’architecture of the Université de Montréal. and co-director of the Laboratoire d’étude de l’architecture potentielle (LEAP). He will speak about Black Rock City, the most common image of a utopian postmodern city.

The Grant, created in memory of this important figure in Quebec contemporary art, is awarded to students studying art history at Université du Québec à Montréal who are outstanding in their research in contemporary art. Visitors to the Symposium are invited to meet the winner of the 2018 Bourse Jean-Claude-Rochefort.. Jean-Claude-Rochefort was born in Saint-Hilarion de Charlevoix in 1957. He lived in Charlevoix and in Montreal, where he worked as an art critic at Le Devoir, Spirale, Vie des Arts and as an independent curator.
Émile Proulx-Cloutier’s songs are like fairy tales, little films, express flights straight to the heart of bigger than life characters (children, old people, women, madmen . . .). Through them, the actor-singer-storyteller reveals himself. His words invite us to journey from tragedy to belly laughs, from the chaos of cities to the sea breeze.
