As part of the Symposium, in collaboration with Animation Baie-Saint-Paul, Martin Wautié invites you to a simple and fun participatory workshop where the public is invited to co-create "anti-recognition" masks. 👥
Inspired by the need to preserve one's privacy in a hyper-visible world, you'll combine your portrait with that of your neighbor and another participant to create a hybrid face — curious, unique, and one of a kind.
🎸 The evening will continue at 7:30 pm with a musical performance by the band Rabaska, the result of a warm collision between rock, prog, and Québécois folk.
📍: Front of the church
Join us for our second creative happy hour exploring painting!
A free event open to everyone, where you're invited to come create and experiment with mural techniques alongside Eleanor King, a Symposium artist. 🎨
Participants will contribute to a mural that will be displayed in the Placette for the rest of the season, with the chance to keep their section once it's taken down.
All materials are provided by the museum.

Lecture in the workshop with Paolo Almario
What if an artificial intelligence decided who should disappear? 👀
Paolo Almario is developing a work in which disappearing becomes a form of camouflage: erasing a body in order to better exclude it. A device that could open up to public participation, so that collective segregation biases are revealed.
A frank discussion on artificial intelligence as an instrument of power, and on the technological migration controls that institutionalize segregation under the guise of sovereignty.
All over coffee and croissants 🥐

This coming Saturday, August 22, will see the screening of the film Insecta Mundi with Frédéric Lavoie. 🪲
Insecta Mundi is an experimental documentary about insects, exploring the concepts of camouflage and metamorphosis. Made in collaboration with the Montreal Insectarium, this film was presented at the Montreal Biosphère in 2025. 🎞️
The idea behind this highly aesthetic visual work is that humans, in turn, feel small before the kingdom of insects, so as to change how they see it and discover all its beauty and nuance.
The 45-minute screening will be followed by a discussion period with the artist.
🗓️: Saturday, August 22, at 8 p.m.
📍: MACBSP
🎟️: Free and open to all!
Families & nature lovers, join us for a sensory observation walk in the forest, taking place Sunday, August 23rd at 2 PM.
During this walk through the Boisé du Quai, participants will be encouraged to sharpen their sense of observation in order to discover what's hiding behind the trees and under the leaves. 🌳
Sight, hearing, smell, and touch will all be engaged to awaken curiosity and wonder at the many forms of life hidden within the woods.
Artist Frédéric Lavoie will lead this outing, accompanied by a naturalist guide from GUEPE.
This activity is organized in collaboration with the Ville de Baie-Saint-Paul.
🗓️: Sunday, August 23rd, at 2 PM

Come hide with us! 👀
On Thursday, August 27th, from 5 to 7 pm, Jesse, a Symposium artist, invites you to take part in a unique collective experience. ✨
By shaping organic forms by hand, participants will build a genuine living camouflage together. Everyone takes on their own area, but it's together that we disappear.
A drone recording will capture this moment suspended between art and community. 🫰

On this final day of the Symposium, we invite you to join us at 10:30 am in the Museum Hall for the closing roundtable of this wonderful event, featuring special guests! 🌫️
Through distinct artistic practices yet united by a shared interest in the interplay of perception, visibility, and concealment, artists Valérie Blass, Nicolas Laverdière (BGL), and Caroline Mauxion will come together for a conversation with curator Anaïs Castro on camouflage as an aesthetic strategy.
Exploring the ways in which artworks blend into their surroundings, subvert expectations, or reveal the invisible, this discussion will address camouflage as a critical tool for questioning the relationships between the individual, the landscape, collective narratives, and mechanisms of representation.
Presented as part of the 2026 Baie-Saint-Paul Symposium, this roundtable offers a reflection on camouflage’s potential to transform the way we see, inhabit, and interpret the world.
All while enjoying coffee and croissants ☕️
