- The Musée d'art contemporain de Baie-Saint-Paul (MACBSP) is designated as the organization that manages and organizes the Baie-Saint-Paul International Symposium of Contemporary Art.
- The Symposium is open to professional visual and media artists. The committee is based on the definition in the Act respecting the professional status of visual artists (see section 7).
- A $25 administration fee is charged for each application. Payable online, by submitting your registration form.
Selection process
1st step : MACBSP team checks the eligibility of applications, according to the following criteria:
- Completion of application;
- Overall quality of the project;
- Relevance of the project to the theme of the edition;
- Artists' level of professionalism.
2nd step : selection of applications by the jury, based on the following criteria:
- Overall quality of the project;
- Realism of the project's realization in the context of the event;
- Level of interaction with the public;
- Relevance of the project to the theme of the edition.
3rd step : final interview for project approval with the curator, evaluation of the following criteria:
- The artist's understanding of the context in which the project will take place;
- Ability of the artist to talk about his/her approach and project.
Specific conditions
The MACBSP agrees to :
- Pay a fee of C$5,000 (plus taxes, if applicable) including materials and exhibition rights (payable in two installments);
- Provide accommodation for the duration of the residency (August 03rd to August 30th 2026);
- Pay for round-trip public transit from the artist's place of residence to Baie-Saint-Paul, calculated according to current public transit rates;
- Provide the creative space.
The ARTIST agrees to :
- Be present in the creation space 4 days/week, from Thursday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., from August 5th, 2026 to August 30th, 2026;
- Although completion of a work at the end of the Symposium is not mandatory, to be able to create during these hours, for the purpose of demonstrating to the public;
- Interact and exchange with visitors;
- Be available to participate in activities organized every Wednesday for artists to meet and exchange ideas;
- Present their work and approach as part of a parallel activity (lectures, studio visits, creative workshops, etc.);
- Arrange transportation during your stay in Baie-Saint-Paul from your accommodation to your creative space (the houses are within walking distance of the Pavilion).

Also, in keeping with Aboriginal traditions, the MACBSP offers First Nations artists the opportunity to submit their projects orally for the 2026 Symposium. Apart from the general information section, candidates may attach an audio document for the “Artistic approach and project description” section. All other sections must be completed as indicated.
Possible locations
We invite artists to propose other locations in their application. It is also possible that the MACBSP team will suggest other locations to the artists during the interview.
